Restaurant Design

It’s coffee time at Kaffet, right in the heart of Helsinki Airport!

Inspired by Finnish nature and craftsmanship, this café is located at a prime spot inside Helsinki Airport.

A Café Inspired by Finnish Nature and Coffee Culture

The story of Kaffet Helsinki is rooted in Finnish traditions, craftsmanship, and nature. Whether it’s the spatial design or the scent of freshly baked cinnamon buns, the authentic and unpretentious atmosphere is something every customer can feel. Kaffet’s warm and welcoming spirit invites all kinds of guests to enjoy a break. At the heart of the concept lies strong Finnish design expertise. The service counter features hand-crafted wood that brings a natural warmth, while the floor and wall surfaces are colored in rich blueberry tones. The inviting sofa and loose furniture are upholstered with textiles designed by Amerikka and woven by a Finnish weaving mill.

Functionality and Smooth Service as a Priority

The design goal was to create a café experience that is both functionally seamless and of high quality.

A key focus was to consider customer flows in varying service situations. The café needs to serve both passengers seeking a quick coffee and those looking for a calm, high-quality café experience. The designed layout intuitively guides customers to choose their preferred service path and products, with visibility carefully considered from all directions.

Sustainable Development

From the very concept phase, Finnish nature and expertise were prioritized. High-quality and as durable as possible materials were selected to ensure the longest possible lifecycle for the furniture.
In the production of both fixed and loose furniture, domestic origins were prioritized, resulting in pieces that highlight Finnish artisan craftsmanship.
